I think it depends on the baby and his or her's habits. When I was 9-11 months old my Mum, Grandma and Aunty took me all around the world for a couple of months. Sure there were some tough times, but that was only when they weren't prepared, or had had a late night themseleves.

As flygirl said, as long as you are prepared (aka, get some sleep, pack things to calm your baby, make sure your seating on the plane makes you quickly available to a bathroom etc) then everything should be fine =]

I would do it if it is very important that the baby see its family on the other side of the ocean...

I don't like being on a 12 hour flight. That is to long to be confined is such a small space.
