I say no. The reason being is that the money being spent now is often squandered and wasted. More money would be more waste.
Another thing is that I dont trust the system to fight the crime that I am concerned about. Your going to hire more highway patrol officers to more strictly enforce speeding laws so that people who are trying to get to and from work will be properly punished for their "crime" or are you looking for thieves rapist and murders? If you stop a speeder the ticket is almost always $100 or more. If you catch a thief their is no monetary reward for the town or city, in fact it cost the town or city even more money to have a trial and then incarcerate the thief.
Of course I am speaking about my perception of the justice system in the US....I have no idea how they do it in the UK.
No. Swedish taxes are so high that there would be enough money to fight crime if the gov had the will. And the courage to face up to the unwelcome fact that most crime is perpetrated by immigrants, legal and illegal.
I would support more state and city taxes to fight crime. I'd prefer that use taxes be raised and that usage rates for public facilities be increased, but I believe that public safety is one of the most important functions of city and state governments.
No way. All they have to do is legalize all drugs and then the police departments will have plenty of money to control the rest of the crime world. Not only that they will have millions to spend on anti-drug education and treatment for addicts who want to be cured.

Very unlikely. The money used to 'fight crime' is actually spent to make sure the industry increases.

If you said that in the US you would be labeled a racist.
I agree with both of you.
There are those, with their heads firmly turned away from reality, who would apply the same label in Sweden.
