The only idiots in this crowd are the liberal elitists like yourself. The first thing that goes out the window with the libs are the guns and then they go after the opinions. Sorry this is the USA not Canada!!!

A rose by any other name...... You hide a person's comments, you censor him/her. If you think he is such an idiot then leave his comments alone and let others draw their own opinion.

Actually it is my opinion that is valid. I live here. The invalid opinions would be those from foreign countries . . like yours.

All this attack upon crazyyake doesn't answer the question. The answer is obviously yes and one must wonder what effect Obama's own pastor, the one who performed the marriage ceremony and christened his children, how much effect has his opinion in the past affected Barack? Obviously it influenced his wife.

Are you libs so enamored with a black man running for President that you can't explore these possibilities? Geraldine Ferraro had it right and is being crucified for it.

Sorry, but Crazyyanks has proven himself to be of no use in a civil discussion. His opinions have no value or merit. He's far too ignorant to be considered.

A civil discussion? Since when was there ever anything civil about the likes of you? You are a sniveling coward like your butt buddy waugs. You are just like the rest of the idiots in Canada who only listen to one side of things and claim everything else is hate speech. Well you don't get to quiet me down because I live in the USA. So take your Canadian censorship and shove it up your ass if you can get waugs out of the way long enough.

My comment here is not really related to this poll, well, not specifically.

I have not studied the candidates in depth because my vote will not count until the November election anyway, so once I am sure of who is running then I will study the pros and cons of each candidate and make my choice.

One thing I am wondering about with Obama is why would anyone care what position Obama's minister takes?

It is very apparent that Kessler is taking the position that Obama's minister would have a lot of say regarding Obama's political stance. I do not see it at all. First of all Obama says one member of his family was an atheist. Right there it tells me he will not be overly concerned with the opinions of ANY minister. Second, from reading this so-called "racist" minister's opinions, it sounds to me like this minister is taking the side of people like Oprah's ancestry, people who were, in some way, affected by the slave trade and slavery in America. This is not the Obama I have read about in the news. Obama's mother was Irish (white) and Obama's dad was Kenyan (African, NOT from the American South), so I can understand why both white Americans who grew up thinking blacks were supposed to ride at the back of the bus ... as well as black Americans (who probably think if he looks black he must be one of us), both have very biased opinions about Obama, but to tell the truth I don't see it. There is no reason to assume Obama would have any racist views whatsoever and there is no reason to assume he will be unduly swayed by the opinion of any minister (although as a tactic to get votes it may not hurt to act persuaded if a majority of his voters are as swayed by these reports just as you seem to be swayed).

That's my two cents. For the reasons I explained I have no reason to suppose for any reason whatsoever that Obama has any racial prejudices whatsoever. People are putting words into his mouth based upon the prejudices they grew up with. Look at the situation as an alien from another planet might see it and you will see what I am trying to tell you. Ask yourself how would Valentine Michael Smith ("A Stranger In A Strange Land") perceive it?

Thanks for the Robert Heinlein reference. ;o)

o.O ...sometimes I don't feel like I'm all here myself... I love that book!!! :-)

Come on Chip, using the race card. Calling everyone who doesn't like Obama a racist. Beneath you dude.

Raising his voice in rage, Wright began his sermon by saying, “Fact No. 1: We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college. Racism is alive and well. Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run. No black man will ever be considered for president, no matter how hard you run Jesse [Jackson] and no black woman can ever be considered for anything outside what she can give with her body.”

Minister Wright sure is not educated if he can't figure out why this is true and I wonder who are using there women for there body?

Condoleezza Rice is the most real person in the world. Where are the black ministers that can praise her? I would vote for and follow her to the ends of the earth and not because she is black or because she is a woman. Because she is brilliant.

Your comments have no bearing, no substance and come with total ignorance to what is actually happening in the real world, Crazyyank. The nurses only let you play on the computer because it keeps you quiet so that you don't disturb the other patients.

You really are an asshole, aren't you Hauli?

Here's the important question. Have you EVER heard Obama spouting any of this racist rhetoric? Obama's minister is NOT the one running for president.

Responding to a comment about my comment? LOL

Move your comment right beneath mine so people can see what you are responding to and I will gladly answer your question.

At this "safe distance" you don't really deserve an answer, but if you take the time to clearly associate your comment with my comment ONLY THEN will I feel it relevant to research McCain's background ONLY as minutely as I researched Obama's and then I'll have an answer that even you can understand.

Oh my, this topic is so juicy I simply can't hold myself back from making just a few comments right off the top of my head. :-)

For one thing, with just the limited knowledge I have of the Aryan Nation I think your comparison is as totally off base as it would be for me to talk about the Watts riots and the "kill whitey" chants of the civil rights brouhaha of the 1960's. It isn't relevant. Watts riots, "kill whitey," "burn baby burn," and the Aryan Brotherhood are all anachronisms and I think only a fool would introduce them into this discussion.

Unlike the rest of your "fan club" I'm not going to moderate you down. I want people to see that the associations you are trying to conjure up are not relevant to the topic. If you're moderated down it would be harder to stand up to you with facts, but even moreso with logic.

Read my earlier comment again, maybe read it a few times, and give me line by line examples of where I'm I'm wrong, and if you can't cut my arguments apart on a LINE-BY-LINE basis and show how you are right and I am not then I will know the reason.

It it because you are just like all the black people that worship Obama. They, like you, think that because he looks like one of them he must be one of them, and on THAT point, as I detailed at length about, is exactly where you are wrong. The color of his skin has absolutely nothing to do with Obama's political ideology and if you study Obama's writings in ANY detail you wou see how they markedly differ from that minister's remarks. If your ancestors were slaves but his were not, he cannot relate to yours to any greater extent than a lot of German-Americans would be able to relate to their grandparents German kin across the pond who tortured Jews during the Third Reich, killed millions of them. and who made soap from the fat of their bodies and lampshades from their skin.

If John McCain went to Aryan Nation festivities that praised such events I would be just as skeptical of McCain as I would be if Obama was reported to have been seen at a cannibal picnic in the heart of darkest Africa, munching down on some allegedly great barbecue (they say it tastes like veal) but neither of these warped flights of fantasy have anything to do with the political agendas of Obama or McCain in today's political landscape.

Obama is not a racist anymore than McCain is a member of the KKK, the John Birch Society, or the Aryan Nation. Either scenario is just a morbid flight of fantasy that isn't relative to this discussion at all.

Chip, it is true that Obama has made no racist remarks himself. Anyone running for President would be a fool to do so and Obama is no fool.

He did, however, have a close relationship with a racist pastor and if he repudiates everything this pastor says now, why did he maintain that relationship then? Why did this pastor perform their marriage ceremony and christen their children. Does this sound like a person who is in full disagreement with another?

His wife slipped and made that remark about this was the first time in her life that she was proud to be American (or words to that effect).

Every time I raise this question, the libbers call me racist. Why is that? They love to use the "ad hominem" phrase, but practice it very freely themselves.

Joseph Kennedy consorted with mobsters during his rum running days but that did not make him a mobster. People are often compared to the company they keep, but that does not always mean they were cut from the same mold and are sympathetic towards the same ideologies. I prefer not to believe in guilt by association. I also prefer to think that one bad apple does not spoil the whole bunch. My dad on other other hand did believe in guilt by association. It was largely because of his knowledge of the company Joe Kennedy kept during his rum running days that in 1960 my dad chose to vote for Nixon rather than Kennedy. And if Dad was still alive he would have assumed that if Obama pals around with racist ministers he must be a a racist. Well, I disagree. Different strokes for different folks is the adage I prefer.

But....I wonder if Joseph Kennedy attended weekly seminars conducted by these mobsters, invited them to his wedding or made one or more of them the Godfather of their children, would you then suspect Kennedy of mob ties and symphathies?

Same applies to Obama.

The "Godfather" of their children?

Was that an intentional pun? LOL :-)

Come on Chip, please answer my question.

Well, on the basis of just one newspaper article it was my opinion that one article did not provide me with enough verifiable facts to incline me to pass judgment on Obama; however, now you are introducing additional "facts" so I will have to look into it some more and see if these additional allegations will make me change my mind.

Maybe my first opinion was wrong. I based my opinion on that one article which was written by a man with a history of right-wing affiliations; however, just as Obama's friendship with an alleged racist does not necessarily make him a sympathizer of racists, neither does it make a person with long time right-wing affiliations necessarily an honorary member of the John Birch society.

Obama calls this man his mentor, friend, pastor and has donated thousands of dollars so that this guy can spew hatred for the United States from his pulpit. It sure seems like a double standard is at work here to me. The things this man has said are every bit as bad as what klansmen and aryans say. It is all hate speech and people who are financially supporting them should be held accountable. Does Obama call this man a racist and hate monger? No, he calls him a friend and mentor. If the grand dragon of the KKK was John McCains friend and mentor then the press would run him out of politics as they should. But since Obama is a media darling they give him a free ride. The press ran Geraldine Ferraro out of the campaign for one slightly racist comment but Obama can just laugh it off and know the press won't touch him. Has Obama said anything racist? Time will tell. Rumors are going around that his pastor isn't the only one on tape with these ideals. I'm sure the right wingers will hold off with what they have until he is nominated. His wife has been quoted as saying "For the first time in my adult life I was proud of my country". Seems like maybe she has some pent up hatred for the country that has given her a great life.

I thought this was a good and valid question. The question said nothing about what you thought of Obama or what affect his minster had on him it was only asking what you thought about his minister. What affect this has on your opinion of Obama is up to you.

In reading the comments I was discouraged to read all the personal attacks and name calling. If you want to discuss and debate ideas great but if you want to make personal attacks and try to defend your ideas by attacking a person then please go find another site. I thought Ask500 was a place to discuss ideas not make personal attacks.

It looks like all the leftists can do is attack the messenger because they have nothing to argue the message with. I see nothing Crazy has said in this entire post that was anything but an opinion on the subject at hand. He usually takes a lot more from them than I would before he finally loses it and starts trying to fight back. Look at how much hate they piled onto Mike before he finally said enough was enough!
