It depends on how well my government brainwashed me into *knowing* I was doing the right thing. In some countries the propaganda machine works so well they can brainwash people into believe anything is the right thing to do.

I don't think I would kill someone over my religion...but maybe over the right to practice my religion. That is more of a question of freedom than it is of religion though.
At the same time I would also kill someone because of their religion...if their religions ideology was to violently impose their will on me. But again, I think that is more of a question of freedom than religion.
