McCain won't win, so why would we worry about that? :)

McCain isn't the one I would worry about...Obama's campaign for "hope" and "change" with little else said is so similar to Hitlers speeches about the German people that it's scary. Obama is the charismatic one, not McCain.
I don't think this question was necessarily about McCain / Obama. Anyway to compare Obama with Hitler, I'm sorry, I think you should take a better look at history to see how far away from the truth that is.

Good point!
But I do not believe in "getting back with your ex" at all. Once gone, they B gone for good. Their choice - Bye, bye, nice knowing you, your loss! Too many other "fish" in the sea to whine about the EX...
Im not absolutely sure but I think, German chancellors have far less authority/power than president of the US. For starters they cant veto or propose bills, they merely choose the people responsible for proposing the bills to the parliaments.
Our styles of goverments cannot be compared directly, since our heads of states (Presidents, Kings) are just for show with no actual "power".
It is going to happen again some where, some day. History repeats it self, and we as a species refuse to learn from it.

Amen!
Or as George Santayana put it, "Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it."
Anything is possible if there enough people to want it...good example is our founding fathers and the American Revolution.
You don't need a bad economy for that - a terrorist "threat" might do the same, or "wapens of mass destruction".
That's what happened with The Patriot Act. He was at a near 90% approval rating when it passed. Lucky us - the arrogance, the lack of charisma and the checks and balances of the US Constitution held despite Bush's attempts to undermine the very foundations of it. Palin's mention of support for LEGISLATIVE powers for the Vice President is proof of how precarious a position the Constitution is in AND how precious the document truly is. It's the only thing that stands between our freedom and tyranny.

Yeah, right! The Patriot Act has really got me by the arse. Can't do anything I used to do! Let's see, let me list the things I can no longer do..... wait, it'll come to me...... hold on! .... can somebody help me here?
What has the Patriot Act done to your freedoms, personally?
Well, I had my cell phone tapped and all my personal conversations recorded because the number had belonged to a drug dealer before me. The FBI conveniently expanded that authority from terrorists to basically anyone they may even suspect has committed a crime. That was nice. And I'm sure they didn't get a court order because a judge would have laughed them out of court.
ANYONE, who has even been charged with a crime will not be allowed into the EU and Canada because shortly their name will be on a list allowed by the Patriot Act. So if you plan to travel in the next couple of years I hope you were never arrested at a student protest in the sixties.

First of all, how do you know your phone was being tapped and conversations recorded?
Did they arrest you, or bring you in for questioning?
Did they list your private conversations on a bill board for the world to see?
And no, I have tried, with success, for many years to not get arrested for crimes because I do not do criminal things, so the ones who are on the "list" rightly deserve to be there. In fact, who do I call to get a copy of that list? It might come in handy...
The FBI called me. Jonmarc, I don't mind your attacking me, but could you make more sense? You just let your anger get hold of you and you lose your ability to think rationally and make a cogent statement or argument.
Keep up the good work not doing "criminal things" because the list is getting longer. Dont forget that laws are in the works and people have been arrested for what they say on the internet, so you may be closer than you think.

So! Seems like they were doing a good job! Have they bothered you since?

When did I "attack" you?
Who has been arrested for saying "things" on the internet. Show me a reference.
The FBI called to tell you they were calling your calls but it was all a mistake?

YO SB, you didn't answer my last question about me attacking you - when?
And who do you know that was arrested for saying things on the 'net? If you don't tell me or provide a link, I can only say you have been reading the same hoaxes that WaugsieBoy and Opedophiles has been reading...
Look, Skippy. You asked for someone to tell you how they personally lost freedoms because of the Patriot Act and she did. So just man up and admit that you were wrong.

Look Plower, she didn't lose any of her freedom from a phone call?
I am still waiting for an answer on all these lost freedoms from the Patriot Act. Helloooo! Anyone get their house raided? Anyone get dragged into a police stationed to be questioned about the affair they were having after the FBI monitored their love notes? Helllooooo! I can't hear you....
She was wiretapped without a warrant, and you say she didn't lose any of her freedoms?! As Benjamin Franklin said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." But to your larger point.
• The law allows secret searches of any home or business by federal agents, with no deadline to notify the owners or occupants that a search has taken place. This has been used against innocent citizens.
• It authorizes collection of personal information from libraries, businesses and medical providers even if there is no evidence of any connection with terrorism. And those ordered to supply the information are barred from letting anyone know that Big Brother is engaging in such activities.
• The law defines domestic terrorism so broadly it could be applied to completely unrelated acts, even peaceful protests.
Cool quotes! Doesn't apply! Give me someone who has been jailed or even questioned by it.
Of course it applies. Do you think that because you don't know anyone personally who has been the victim of one of these provisions that it will never happen? Is that what they taught you in Ostrich School?
That's how the end begins, Jonmarc. "Well, I'm not Jewish ... so what do I care that they're arresting the Jews?"

We are not even close to that scenario yet although the ATF should be a convenience store not a government agency.
"yet"? The point is the Constitutional right of habeas corpus should stand at ALL times. THAT is how you keep the downward slide from starting. Security writs, willful destruction of judicial oversight, usurpation of habeas corpus, presidential signing statements claiming he should be allowed to function outside of the nation's laws while acting WITHIN the nations borders - THAT is how you end up with a totalitarian regime in place.
To give you an idea of what I mean about the spiral down and the precarious position our Constitution is in right now, honestly answer this question:
If Obama was elected president by the majority of the people come November and Bush refused to surrender the office, instead calling for another election sometime in February, what would you do?
I HONESTLY believe you'd smile and think to yourself: "Oh, that Bush! He's such a smart guy!" Then you'd wait for February.
Wow, did you get out of the wholesale business and go back to school? Law school? :)
Here's a map I played with today. Made me very happy:

No, she should write spy movie scripts. What an imagination!
Unlike some people, who can only repeat Hannity and ElRushbo talking points, and take pride in calling themselves, "Ditto" heads.
;>)
She didn't say we are close to that scenario yet... she said, "that's how it begins." Doh.
Gosh you are so smart for pointing that out... Doh!
Bush, with the help of the White House legal staff has consistently made an effort to undermine the Congress by signing bills they have passed and then ignoring all or part of them based upon "his" interpretation of the Constitution. Can you imagine anything more ludicrious than Bush being a Constitutional scholar? He has tried to consolidate more and more power into the office of the president. This is not what our founding fathers envisioned. I think they call that a dictatorship. He holds the record for abusing his office, more than any other President. If I was a religious person I would say he is the anti-christ because he has done more to destroy the world than anyone I can imagine. Even Hitler's evil was limited.

Good grief! You ain't seen nothing! Wait until your Socialist gets into office...
My Socialist? I don't want either one of them.

LOL! Good for you! Me neither but we have to pick the "lesser of the two evils" and that sucks!
So, at last you admit your guy is an evil! :)

Hitler was a socialist with the same platform for change as Obama. More recently Hugo Chavez's rise to power in Venezuela is similar to Hitler's and guess who he supports! Obama. If the planet is supposed to go through hell.. and it may be the plan... Obama is the being willing to take you there. Good luck USA!
Since there are only two choices, it's a little presumptious to think that anyone supports ALL the ideas of the man they plan to vote for. I mean, if Chavez has to choose does it mean he's falling into lockstep with Obama? My god man, let's think this through logically.

Thinking is not an Obama supporters strong suit. Emotional attachment and Kool-Aid drinkers. Look at who wants Obama... pray they and you don't get their wish.
So you think we should withdraw support from Obama because Chavez supports him? I suspect Chavez supports Obama because he thinks somehow that will irritate Bush. I really don't give a RATS ARSE who Chavez supports - doesn't affect me either way.
Did think it was funny when Chavez requested the extradition of Pat Robertson, though. I was for sending him down there to face trial. (lol)

Ahhh! How do I say this? If Hitler was still alive and he supported BO, would that make you change your mind? Come on, Silly, don't be hard headed, the man is making an irrefutable statement about BO.
Not true. Chavez doesn't really give a crap about anybody but himself. He just hates Bush. I suspect he's going to end up hating Obama, too. (lol)
Really? Just what is the "irrefutable" statement, Jonapril?

Iceburner said, "Hugo Chavez's rise to power in Venezuela is similar to Hitler's and guess who he supports! Obama." Pretty GD irrefutable to me because he has stated he supports BO.
umm... he said, "Hitler was a socialist with the same platform for change as Obama. More recently Hugo Chavez's rise to power in Venezuela is similar to Hitler's and guess who he supports! Obama. If the planet is supposed to go through hell.. and it may be the plan... Obama is the being willing to take you there."
If you don't see anything irrefutable there, you really need to lay of the Kool-aid. 1. Hitler was not a socialist. 2. Chavez's rise to power is NOT similar to Hitler's. 3. What does Chavez's support of Obama have to do with Hitler? Nothing. Did Chavez say he supports Obama because he's like Hitler? No. Because he's like Chavez? No. 4. Obama has announced no plan to be willing to take us through hell. Damn... I guess it's ALL refutable.
Just looking at the bile you spew makes me a LITTLE bit more secure in my Obama vote. If you don't like him - hmmmm. Maybe that's one more reason to vote for him.
That's a cop-out, Silly!
Eh - I was going to vote for him anyway.
No, wait. I already did. By absentee ballot. Might end up being a poll watcher this election. Make sure we don't have any monkey business going on.
Kool-aid drinkers???? o.O
Why of course it does, suzanna. Just look at Obama. It's clear that he is in lock step with Rev. Wright and Bill Ayres, right? After all, he went to the church, he sat on the board of the non-profit. So what if nobody has been able to produce one quote where he even once said that he supports the radical positions or either man. His middle name is "Hussein" isn't it. Obviously the man can't be trusted. Oh, and did I mention he's black? </sarcasm>

What is your most successful survival machine?
This comment has been moderated down. (Show Comment)
The most successful survival machine in the known universe is 'human being' You have one to. It is not who you are. Human Being is designed to survive. Most of what people do is just 'being' on automatic.
PS Obama may become the greatest president ever for the US or not. Unlikely he gets a pass. For eveyone's sake those voting for him should at least know what they are getting. Most seem to just hate BUSH. Odd behavior since he is not running. The campaign to paint the left winger McCain (look at his voting record compared to Hillary's) as Bush III is laughable except the press is in bed with Obama. Wonder why?
Since you are saying both are left-wingers how can it matter to you which one wins?

Nice summary! I don't like it but it sounds true from what I have seen/heard.
YOUR press is in bed with Obama. MY press is in bed with McCain.
