It is the Councils job to serve the community.
I go to a couple of libraries each week and here they have extended the opening hours because they are getting very busy.
The community needs each other in these hard times and these are the places that people can go to, for friendship and support.
All these places should offer free tea/coffee, donation appreciated. Maybe they could only open these places at specific times.
Sausage Sizzle in the park, craft or trash and treasure markets.
They could save money by reducing some of the office staff hours and ask for volunteers.
I think it is also important that this type of cutbacks doesn't concern or alarm children or the elderly.
The Council's own figures don't add up This scheme is claimed to "keep council tax low"
The Council plans to spend £20 mill on new buildings over the next 4 years i.e. £5 mill per annum whilst the cost of maintaining the exisiting buildings is only £4.5 per annum (These are the Council's own figures) and they have made no allowance for repairs or
maintenance on the new buildings
Instead of complaining the question should be asked who is to benefit from the "SAR sale of the century".Which organisations will benefit from the transfer of our assets. For example will Tranmere Rovers FC be offered the Woodchurch Community Centre as their training centre:accademy , enabling the sale of club assesets to pay back the majority share holder
Once again Cllr Foulkes demonstrates his partisan approach by making an incorrect and emotive statement in response to Unison's views
NOBODY has said they want a "library on every street corner" so whay say it councillor?
What the people do want are a range of LOCAL services which meet their needs and which they NOT the councillors, are paying for
The huge outcry against this broken council;s plans has shown quite clearly what the electorate wants
Cllt Foulkes are his party are treating the electorate with contempt and accusing them of ignorance
Mark my words the electorate will have their revenge at the polls
