I dont know any of these books...is that bad?
Always time to learn more! :-)
I strongly recommend you read The End of Faith, by Sam Harris
I have not read any so I can't vote as I don't agree with teh yellow option!
Look at the votes by Gender .... yet again we see that the women on this site are much more religious/fundie than the men.
I have always believed in sexual equality, but this trend is really challenging that belief!!!
What makes you think it is a biological rather than a cultural difference?
guys and gals are pretty much subject to thesame cultural influences in the age of mass media.
not if they don't listen to the mass media
Can you really avoid it? Great if you can, but we are bombared from all sides these days, TV, internet, newspapers and magazines, billboards if you just go for a drive, radio ... even gossip among freinds. Its hard not to have some influences surely.
There's still a widespread cultural bias that "real men" are meant to be rational (or at least keep their feelings to themselves), while women are encouraged to be emotional and intuitive (or at least generally portrayed as such).
Of course, culture is not a static thing so that's changing somewhat - for example, in the X-Files, it is Dana Scully who is the rational half of the duo, who uses her head and not her heart, while Mulder is the one who uses his intuition.
