LOL, I read the link, and have to say touche. I'll give you a happy point for that one. I will say that the vast majority of Christians don't and should not behave that way, but I can hear you replying that the vast majority of Muslims don't either, to which I will also say touche. LOL.

April, there is nothing "equal" here when comparing Christian and Muslims killing for their religion. Oh yes, there are some Christians who go to far like the abortion bombings but they are like the occasional school shooting, they are sporadic happenings which are not orchestrated from any central entity. This is not true when talking about Muslim terrorism. Make a list of Christian terrorism and then, check this list and see if SpangeNW is being a bit "nice" toward the real killers out there.
Who is being nice, I didn't deny some Muslims commit a hell of a lot of terrorist acts, it's on the news daily. My point is that Christians can be and do behave violently. They can be and often are hateful and vengeful - those Westboro Baptists and evangelical nutters who go around with their banners condemning everyone who isn't, well, them. I wont mention the past because you argue it no longer matters but the fact is that Christianity is perfectly capable of being twisted to the will of evil killers and to deny that is to be blind to the truth. No religion is peaceful in the hands of evil men. And denying that the past proves this is like saying oh...Nazis aren't hateful cos they didn't kill a million people for like...decades.
True, those bad guys do want us either dead or converted, sucky depressing thought. So I try not to think too much about it, cos if I think about it I wouldn't get on a plane or go shopping or sit next to an Asian looking guy with a backpack. I figure, if I am gonna get caught up in a terrorist attack like the ones they commit, I can't stop it, even if I was as tooled up as you I probably couldn't stop it.
It all comes down to idealism really, and I'm not that idealistic. Do I wish everyone would realise all we are is people trying for the same things in life? Hell yes. Do I wish we could live without fear of terrorism, or watching the aftermath of it on the news everyday? Yes of course. Do I believe we will change it in my lifetime, however much we rant and lobby and demand something be done? No. Do I believe they will be able to invade my country or yours and take over? No, not a chance.
Man, if Islam really wanted to take over the whole world, they have had 1400 years and not managed it yet. They haven't crushed Israel. They wont crush us. All ordinary folk can do to fight terrorism is try and suppress hatred cos that's what it feeds on, hate and fear. And will our governments to fight the right fights - you have to take these fuckers down from the top. Kinda like the Israelis do.
I don't agree with everything you say, but in this you have an important point. We should not disregard the terrible effect Islamic terrorism is having on the world. But I guess where I disagree is in not believing all or even most Muslims are terrorists or hate anyone not Muslim. Like most Christians don't bomb abortion clinics or most kids don't shoot up their schools. Yeah, a lot of them in real numbers are doing terrible things but most of em would be happy to go about their business without worrying about getting blown up or shot. Kinda like me and you.
So, Muslim = terrorist? I'll have to remember that when my friends (of 14 years) come over for supper tonight. I'll be sure to pat them down at the door.
I always thought Christians went better with fava beans and a nice bottle of chianti. Then again, there's something to be said for a nice Muslim lettuce and tomato sandwich where the Muslim is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe.
