But, of course.

I second that!!!

yep.

Well I suppose that would be the 'right' direction. Sorry for the pun, I'm desperate :-(

Fiscal liberals are very frightening people. They spend, spend, spend without a worry about the future.

Social Conservatives are trouble - they think people shouldn't have too many freedoms and should be monitored by the state for their own good. That's a communist philosophy.

Our current administration are social conservatives, fiscal liberals. Very, very frightening individuals. It took 40 years for America to throw the Democrats out of office in frustration over corruption and inattentiveness to everyday American's needs. It's taken less than eight for them to feel the same way about Republicans. A balance between the two is really the best for all concerned. But the Republicans have shown the Democrats so many loopholes in the election laws that there's a good chance that no Republican will ever hold the White House again.

What about the green party, or an independent? We have too few choices.

I don't think a party can ever lead us in the right direction because they focus too much on dogma and politics and not enough on effective solutions. The Liberals think that the only way to solve all problems is through social programs. The Conservatives think that the only way to solve all problems is by free market solutions. That's like saying that all screws require a #2 flat head screw driver. What about screws that require a philips head, allen wrench? What about different sized screws? What about bolts, pegs, and nails?

Each issue has different variables and requires different solutions. Who cares what group, or emotional baggage is attached to a certain idea... we should apply what is most effective based on the variables of each issue and how they relate to the over all picture. We should judge solutions based on their effectiveness and not who says them.

Because of this, only an individual who has the skills of critical analysis and thinks for him/herself in a rational manner will lead this nation in the right direction.

The American dual party system is broken, if it ever really worked at all. We need at least three VIABLE parties.

There have been third parties crop up from time to time and they just can't get traction.

The green party won't be happy unless all humanity extinguishes itself.

You're right. They're only good for planting flowers on everybody's graves. Then the world will be green and pretty again!
