I'm not criticizing by asking, but asking; which ethical system believes that eating meat is bad?

Aristotle analyzed the soul and found it to have three parts: the Nutritive Soul (plants, animals and humans), the Perceptive Soul (animals and humans) and the Rational Soul (humans only). If you consider that the 1st and 2ns parts of the soul mentioned are the only responsibles for physical and psychological welfare if you take them out of their natural habitat, raise them with a bunch of hormones, confined... ONLY to be slaughtered for human pleasure/vanity/consumption is that fair?

my kitten was so sensitive that she (i dislike calling them IT) became over worried about my anorexia (i'm cured now) and had begun to hurt herself really bad. At first, we thought her wounds were caused by some bacteria or allergy only month later we came to meet Ceres, who is a vet. with phd in psychology. She told me that mammals, some birds and fishes too have close relationship to others from theirs species. For an example, cows and oxes are usually seen with the same companions when raised with the tiny liberty to graze. And scientists also found that they might become depressed with their friends absence.

Aristotle only concerns about human suffer when considering sth ethical. BUT if this are some of the reasons (besides the pain animals feel when slaughtered) you wouldn't hurt humans why do it to another specie when they suffer just like us?

in the following link, you can see Peter Singer, an aussie philosopher, who's studied and witten a lot about "feeding ethics"

he will surely go far beyond this simple explanation i gave you. Beside that he's a great professor, so its not a bit boring.

hope Peter and I might explain it well to you.

if you need to continue this discussion, or need me to explain sth better you may sned an e-mail to russa_fev@hotmail.com

I appreciate the kind response. It helps me to understand what looked at first glance to be an excuse to justify doing what you want. I follow a different philosophy, but certainly allow others to follow theirs.
