Ummm ... I am pretty sure that 'All Hallow's Eve' is not American. In fact last time I checked it was Pagan. In fact NONE of these holidays are American as Canada has Thanksgiving as well.
You don't have to buy a lot of crap for Thanksgiving, and you can usually mooch off a relative if you don't want to buy anything. There are no funky costumes, cheezy gift exchanges and all that other crap. Just a bunch of food and time to catch up on reading or TV or whatever else.
