Actually, lol is a smile, rofl is a grin, roflmao is a chuckle.
Was doing a show, standing up in front of 20 - 25 people. Somebody said something funny. Instead of laughing (or smiling) I SAID "lol" I didn't even catch it when it happened. Another girl did - pointed it out and laughed her arse off at me. Told me I was spending WAY too much time on the internet. She could have been right.
I am laughing when I use lol. :)

I don't use it. I rarely laugh out loud while on the Internet, so it seems silly to use LOL.
