Becase it is round I cannot see my back. If it was flat, and I had a big enough telescope, I could.
If it were flat then you wouldn't be looking at your back....
The Universe is all done with mirrored images. And Earth is round because it floats better in Space.
Why would your line of sight stick to the curvature of the earth - instead of just straight out to infinity?
