*TheSheep chokes on laughter!!!*

oh yeah very clean language. I might as well say it's environmental friendly (lol)

Suppression is one step closer to communism, Jonapril. How un-American of you.

You mean suppression as in moderating down an opposing view?

Or maybe moderating up a view you agree with?

I wouldn't change much. Maybe just an e-mail address added if the user wanted. I've communicated with several members by e-mail and it's always positive, even though we may disagree here. Regarding personal attacks, they do not bother me, I've had Jonapril do the same thing that he has done to waugs and I find it cowardly. Gaygael experienced it this week. I enjoy reading the verbal battles as I look at it as mental chess. Perhaps we shouldn't have the option of deleting comments, like Norman's, so the community can see their true sock puppeteer colors

I think the political polls will drop drastically after the election. If not, then maybe we could self-censor, hopefully. I would like the questions that are overtly sexual eliminated because I suspect they get off on these questions and I feel totally creepy even reading them. If it's some kind of cultural question then they could phrase it that way.

Sorry I have to disagree, I find sexuality highly interesting and do like to see polls that deal with that, you can always decide not to vote.

Better not to vote than to be one of the prudes that flag them as inappropriate. Those people need to move back to Puritiania.

Masters & Johnson, Kinnsey (sp?), and Hite among others all sold very well because they answered people's questions and helped proved questions about sex are natural.

What better place for questions on ANY SUBJECT than a polling place like this one?

If my S.O. won't do oral isn't it natural to wonder what women, in general, think of it?

I would like to see the site load faster. It can take for ages on my PC...

I was having trouble with it, too. Turned out to be my browser. Do a history, cookie and temp file clean up. Made a big difference for me.

Hi pollewop, has it been something recent or has it always been slow?

I too think the political questions will reduce in number after the election, as long as the economy doesn't do another Great Depression.

I've never had any trouble connecting with others on the site. There is a very simple way to insure that the person you want to contact is the only one who gets the information.

I'd like to see loading the map optional. That's what frequently times out my connection.

I'd like for both my sister and I to be able to vote and moderate up or down on questions when we are both signed in from the server here at work. I live here for eight months of the year, and she splits her time between here and the City, so we are frequently on the same server. It's annoying to not be able to fully participate because I got someone I know interested in the site as well.

"There is a very simple way to insure that the person you want to contact is the only one who gets the information."

HOW? I thought the only way is to answer here, directly, in public, for everyone accessable.

I agree though on the last part.

I concur on all counts!

Thanks for the input dauguy. Regarding you and your sister, I'll inquire if there's something we can do for you.

I would like to see the moderate down/up feature deleted. If someone disagrees with a comment let him do so in writing.

On this particular site the libs greatly outnumber the conservs and therefore conservs are at a disadvantage.

If moderating questions is eliminated the only way people will be able to get rid of comments they disagree with eliminated is by flagging the question inappropriate. I think if this happens it will create a worse problem than the problems posed by allowing moderating.

Why get rid of comments? Isn't the basic reason for a site like this is to enter all comments pro and con on a subject? Why are you afraid for some comments to be seen at first glance. Why must someone take one additional step to see those comments?

If you still believe, Mike, in voting up/down comments is "cowardly", as you have stated in the past, what are your views on "Removed By Community" on submitted questions? Please elaborate and if you need examples, please go to the profile of BobUS, a...dare I say...LIBERAL!

"Make it more social"? What ideas did you have in mind?

1 Replies to SuperFlyNinjaGuy's answer

I've been thinking about the ability to "follow" other people on the site. You could then see their questions/comments, stuff like that.

I'd love the social aspect!

Me too...!

When on AOL, everytime I change screens I have to login again. Doesn't happen on IE. Guess I can just use IE, but AOL makes it so much easier for me.

Hi Charlie, this seems to be an occasional bug that people are running into. We are looking into it but it hasn't proven easy to squish. Sorry it's affecting you.

I'd hate to see the political questions go; they are a major draw to the site for some of us. I notice that is getting alot of votes, though. I wonder if it was possible to mark questions as belonging to a category and then letting viewers opt out of certain ones?

3 Replies to TheSheep's answer

Don't worry - there will be a whole new batch. Right after the election we'll see all the "did you suspect voter fraud?" ones. Come January 30th it will be "Where's all this CHANGE?" (lol)

Yep, tags and/or categories would be the probable solution. I wasn't thinking we'd get rid of them, just wanted to see how much they might be bothering people.

We need better grammar and correct spelling on this site. Sometimes, I find the questions to be too vague, confusing, poorly thought out, and with grouse syntax errors. Generally, I do not answer those questions. They irritate me too much.

I know, I may appear to you to have a superior attitude, but that is far from the truth. I just appreciate an easy read--something that is coherent, pragmatic, and well-written. Text that anyone can easily understand.

No, there is nothing special about me. I am not a Ph.D. I do not have a Master's Degree either. In fact, I am a high school dropout. That doesn't mean that I am stupid or ignorant. That only means that I did not complete high school. I wish I had though.

I agree that sometimes I can't even answer a question because I really can't tell what the intent was because of bad grammar, so a spell check option might help.

However, there are a lot of questions that are coming from all parts of the world and from people whose first language is not English. I wish some people would take that into consideration before jumping down people's throats for spelling and grammar, especially when it is on account of small errors and the intent of the question is obvious. Learning a language is not an overnight thing and nasty comments are only going to discourage or hinder people trying to learn from learning. Not to mention, it can discourage them from coming to the site completely, making the site less global.

Thanks for the input iloiloguy. I agree better phrasing/spelling would help. It's on our list. It's just... a big list. :)

You mean like "grouse syntax errors"

A mac dashboard widget (last questions / my last question activity )

Maybe a tagging / categorizing system for new question

A "RELATED QUESTIONS" box !!

But ask500 is already very good... it's so addictive :--)
