You would fail at going back in time....
I think the failure point can happen anywhere up until you kill your grandfather. You may succeed in going back in time but you may kill the wrong person or not quite kill your grandfather.

If you really beleived you could, they would sedate you.
If you killed your grandfather, you never would have been born. But, if you were never born you wouldn't have killed your grandfather, so you still would have been born! Wow. I think we should try it out and see what happens.
