Don't buy her a gift, write her a long well thought out heartfelt love letter, Give it to her over dinner in the best restaurant you can afford.
That is so sweet. I haven't written a love letter in ages. Just the other day I pulled out her chair before she sat down and she said at first she thought I was intending to pull it from under her. Duh.
Hey! What would say you care better than a massage certificate?
A bible
Yah, you never know when you will need a fire to keep warm.
hahaha ohh you Godless Candians... :o) I love you guys. lol
Sorry that was a bad joke. I just don't understand why people need the bible to prove to themselves that a God exists. I believe in God, but its not the same God as the bible defines. (ex. I don't believe in the literal creation of existence in 7 days)
But again, this is just what I believe ... everyone is entitled to their own.
I got your point entirely. I come from a super religous family. I consider myself devoute I guess, but seriously... I dont see why its necissary to talk about religion all the time. (On the flip side, I think there is nothing wrong with talking about it here and then ;o)
As to super literal readings of things... I agree. Its funny to me (as speaking as a Catholic) that the fundamentalist protestants take everything so literally except when they find it goes against what they want to believe. (e.g. the whole bit about literally being the bread of life - the protestants dont like that one and yet they say they pretend to be strict textualists [the justice scalias of biblical interpretations])
As to the seven days bit, I agree with you as well. I think that thats prob. more metaphorical than anything. Not to say it wasnt created in 7 days, but the question really is: what does 7 days mean? I think 7 days to god might be 7 milliums... which allows me to comfortably believe scientific theories and christian teachings on the creation of the world.
Ummm... yeah - thats all for now.
