Not entirely sure but despite all rumblings to the contrary, ultimatly the EU wants to maintain relatively friendly relations.
we're definitely better of having good relations with Russia, but we should keep an eye on this. They can't be allowed to do as they wish.
True, it would be better for everyone if Russia and the EU can follow a common agenda and avoid armed conflicts and situations like Georgia.
