HAAAAAAAAA, good answer.

Do you intend to imply that women were too dumb to invent shoes for themselves? I would bet that women were better at making clothes, particularly for children.

No, they knew that men routinely don't value anything that women do, so it would be better to wait until men finally got the message. ;)

I think it is an interesting question and some people tend to make a mountain out of a molehill--how is that for the 60's??

The serious point - if there is one - is that we, both men and women, are essentially the same people that we were 50,000 years ago. The interval is too short for any meaningful evolutionary change to have taken place. And, btw, it seems probable that women and pre-women were mainly responsible for the developement of language.

(Are sense of humour implants available in the US? And could Translate afford one?)

Haa--we do need the implants, and to stop sweating the small stuff, I still like the question cause I read it in the spirit it was written, just as if it were--men drinking beer and watching football, what did they do 50,000 years ago? Denigration of men??? NAHHH!!

The real answer is, of course, that women were obsessed with the survival of their children. They were pretty good at the job, which is why mankind lasted the course and we are blessed with the sanctimonious and priggish Translate. In spite of this unfortunate consequence I still think we should be grateful to our remote grandmothers.

Women were obsessed with "fire". Everyone was, and women needed it to be able to cook and set up a kitchen : )
