What is your opinion of Australia? Ask a Question

Interesting place for sheep.

Better bring gumboots.

Sheep do better in New Zealand.

Healthier for them?

There has been a drought in Australia - hasn't been very good for the sheep.

Poor sheep! :-(

Sunny Holiday Location and uncivilised but in a good way kind of like they have kept the wild part and just added in a little civilisation! I love Australia!

I have always wanted to visit Coober Pedy.

A fascinating place I really wish to visit someday.

Me too!

I put 'Sunny Holiday Location' however it should be credited for its fantastic people and its diverse set of flora and fauna, both are real strong points for Australia. Whoever put uncivilized are foolish, I'm sure many will agree with me.

I was there earlier this year, and I agree with you 100%. I will certainly be going back for another visit.

A nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Some of the biggest crocs in the world, some of most deadliest bugs and snakes in the world, and too many kangaroos. The people are nice though.

Rifles and shotguns are permitted for hunters and farmers to protect their stock.

We have 2 types of Crocs, the Saltwater Croc is the most dangerous. Crocs are only in the North of Australia.

It's handguns and military style firepower that is restricted or banned.

I'd love to visit one day. I'm not so keen on the spiders and insects, but the people I've met are, for the most part, very cordial.

I'm amazed no one has mentioned sports.

Australia has to be one of the most dedicated nations on earth to playing (and winning) at sports.

The are and have been number one at cricket for a long time (hard for an Englishman to admit, but true), they do very well in Rugby Football, and have excellent history at swimming, tennis, sailing. When you look at the achievements for the size of population, they are amazing.

As for visiting it is too far to go, and has way too many creatures that can kill you per square metre.

Not a world power, but they more than pull their weight in any time of trouble, and are certainly a regional power.

And they gave the world Kevin "Bloody" Wilson too :)

Look i can't believe you think theres things that kill you everywhere. You're more likely to be shot in America! Ok thats a bad example because thats likely (just kidding) BUT we are NOT uncivilised I travel a lot we have the same as europe, uk, us. INFACT our systems are better than much of the weird toilets in europe and UK. Our flush is nicer :p.

This just goes to confirm what I thought before, that people are not shown the TRUE australia. COMPLETELY civilised, safe, NO GUNS (thank god!) AND ALSO a sunny holiday location. BUT the others first. But yeah, we are not a world power really, I'd say it's safe to say world poser! :P

It's a lot more than just a sunny holiday location. Fair Dinkum it is! It's a vibrant and rather special country. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else...well...maybe New Zealand at a pinch.

Uncivilised? Australia? Pull the other one!

A world Poser? Really? In what way?

A world power? Bloody hell! I think that would be the last thing we'd want to be.

Jonmark, I wouldn't be put off by the Croc's. You have to travel in the North to be concerned about them. For what it's worth, I have a shotgun and a magnum .22 rifle.

Yes, we do have snakes and spiders. Some pretty crook ones at that, but, I've survived for many years now and not been attacked or bitten by one. I've seen plenty of both over the years.

You've just got to be a bit careful, that's all.
