It depends on if you are buying or selling. If you are selling, find one that has been recommended to you. It is important to find one that is honest and that you get along with.

If you are buying, the most important thing to remember is that in most cases the realtor works for the seller. Here in the the states, most states have laws set up to enforce just that. Even if you find your own realtor, they still work for the seller and are legally obligated to get the seller the most money they can.

There are "buyer's agents" and I have used them a couple times. They charge a small fee but work for the buyer.
