Religion, when practiced according to their base tenets, should increase peace, not hinder it. And politicians should be solely public servants who help groups of people maintain an orderly society. But when you put greed into the mix, everything goes wrong. And there is a little bit of greed in all of us. Thus greed is the true problem.
There are so many things preventing world peace, you can't name one. Mainly, you must remember that the world is under Satan's rule at this time. World peace will only come upon Jesus Christ's return. :)
