How do we know it's a continent and not a reeealy big island, like Greenland.

How do we know Africa or South America aren't really big islands too? Hey, some might even consider North America an island. :)

I'm not sure but Greenland does not have his own continental plate. Australia does.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You're correct. Greenland is on the North American tectonic plate and would be attached to Canada if past ice ages hadn't destroyed what appears to have been a land bridge.

Are you for real?

America was the original British penal colony. In 1775 they stopped shipping the prisoners to the US due to the impending revolution. Around 1780, they began shipping the prisoners to Australia.

Penal Colony !

In the interests of disinformation, once a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, right?

I mean, isn't that right up there with the other answers?

Very nice place to visit. I wouldn't want to stay there. They have some of the most deadliest snakes and insects in the world crawling around there, but the people are friendly and nice.

People actually voted "An American State"?! HAHAHA
