I think that entirely depends on the kind of person you are.
Depends on what "what" is (I'm channeling Clinton).
Some experiences will make you mentally stronger, but physically weaker.
Cocaine doesn't kill you, but it certainly doesn't make you stronger.
I agree. Same thing could be said for heroin, ecstasy, 151 proof rum, and lots of other ingestibles.
have you heard of an od?
Of course. But keep in mind that people can overdose on everything. Too much food, too much water, or too much of anything else on the planet will kill a person if they have too much of it.
true
The experience makes you stronger in someway always.
I'm really not sure about this one.
Certainly we can learn from our non-fatal experiences, but is everything we learn positive?
I think not.
Also, you might survive some close calls but only just, leaqving you pretty much wrecked (mentally, physically, or both).
I think it is one of those phrases that sounds good until you start to look closely at it.
It needs a "Sometimes" answer for me to be able to vote here.
Right, sometimes what we learn is, "Fuck, I better not do that again."
Except when it completely fractures your personality and you end up begging in the streets.
As one exception.
Absolute nonsense disguised as clever aphorism.
