Well, upon finding there might be a thimbleful of water on the moon I am sure looking for another thimbleful on Mars will soon become a national priority. :-)
I don't have much faith in the future of the manned space program right now. I think they're getting ready to cash out on the ISS and likely abandon the moon return as well.
If we do get to Mars, I'd be very surprised if it's an American expedition.

There not much reason to send humans to other planets anymore, except PR. The scientists are better off sending a robot. I voted 20-39%
