No, the west interference gave the the shah and as a result of that Khomeini. People in Iran need to sort this out and the people in the west, not the governments, can lend moral support.

Agreed.

Besides, if we mess with their elections, who's to stop anyone from messing with your/our elections? We may not like who they turned out, but it's really none of our business.

I think you are right, but it's even more simple than that. If the West tried to insure fair elections, it would turn all parties against us. Then they would go ahead and do whatever they damn well pleased.

Sadly this kind of politics is not limited to Iran. Politicians all over the world seem to engage in it (and a few members here as well).

No other country interfered with our corrupt 2000 elections and they shouldn't. Iran needs to take care of their own problems. We needed to take care of ours and the Supreme Court awarded Bush the job.

I agree we don’t need to interfere in other sovereign countries elections.

I don’t know if you caught the three or four news stories during the 2000 elections about the democratic contender getting campaign contributions from China. You might not have it was pushed down to the tickers at the bottom of the screen on the network news and was only ran for two or three days.

Elections are international politics know country should get involved with another countries elections but they can’t afford to loose the opportunity to earn a favor or arm twisting leverage.
