Yes - he's a global thinker - a diplomat !
The answers are limited. He is not been recognized for relations with only Iran. what about the citation by the award committee who said
"the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation but recognized initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.

I was quite surprised to see Obama received this award. If you were to compare what Obama has(n't) done to what Clinton actually did achieve for peace, why didn't Clinton receive this prize as well?
I agree that this award wasn't about the true meaning of what the Nobel prize stands for, but more of a bribe offered to gain favor with Obama.

Obama just made my point for me. (And probably better)
Quoted from foxnews.com:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/09/president-barack-obama-wins-nobel-peace-prize/
In a brief statement from the White House Rose Garden on Friday, Obama said he does not "view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments," but rather as a recognition of goals he has set for the United States and the world.
"I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honored by this prize," he said.

Compared to what Clinton did, (and yes, I am saying something positive about Clinton!) Obama hasn't done anything. Obama seems to have realized this himself and I give him cudos for being humble about it. If Obama himself can only guess that his "plan" is what earned him the prize, how is this a legitimate award if his plan hasn't even come to fruition?
Clinton brokered a peace deal between Israel and the PLO that had a lasting affect. That was a real accomplishment, not a "plan".

You are also missing the point that this isn't an attack on Obama. It isn't his fault they gave him the award. The Nobel committee is who looks like the fool.

If Bush received the Nobel peace prize, I would consider it the end of Alfred Nobel's legacy and an insult to anyone who did honestly deserve the award. (Ok, maybe Yasser Arafat already made that happen).
Maybe you should look at some of the news coverage on this. Try BBC for a somewhat unbiased report. You will see that a lot of the coverage deals with how "premature" and "early" this award is for Obama.
It seems to me, that you actually like it when controversy arises around Obama and his policies. You are quick to make generalized attacks on those who don't think like you, and you can't seem to accept that people can have an opposing view without being an evil malcontent trying to do nothing but cause chaos and disruption.
I gave kudos to Obama for the way he handled this award. He WAS humble about it, but he also put this controversy squarely on the Nobel committee with his "undeserving" comment. I don't think you can comprehend that I approve of the way Obama did something.
I've pointed out that I don't think this an attack on Obama, but YOU are the one who keeps bringing it up. Like I said, you seem to enjoy it when he is attacked, even to the point of making the attacks up.
I've covered all the points I care to make, so feel free to continue your rant. You can have the last word here.

...and yes, I consider it a bribe because Obama has been presented with a request for 60,000 more troops in Afghanistan. What better way for a foreign group to try an influence his decision than award him the Nobel peace prize.

Read a funny (to me) article on it - the author said it could hamper Obama as much as help him, as he will forever be judged by this yardstick. They cited the aspirational award given to Yassar Arafat for promoting Middle East peace in 1994 as one that was probably awarded prematurely.
As far as Obama deserving an aspirational based one, I'm in between maybe and yes, leaning more heavily towards maybe. I personally wish he had a bigger body of work behind him as president before they considered making such an award.
The Norwegian committee that awards the peace prize is a small clique of has-been politicians. My guess is that their prime motivation is the hope that Obama will turn up in Oslo next May to collect the prize and they will have lots of photo ops and TV time with him.
Ever since they gave the prize to that murderous terrorist Yaser Arafat the 'Peace' prize has been a joke in poor taste. I do not think Obama has done anything so bad as to be in that company.
The committee that awards the prize consists of 5 politicians. 2 are socialists and one a communist. Our US friends have an expression that may fit the case; I think it is something like "Go figure".
Good point!
