Attempted genocide is still genocide...no?

I don't know, to me yes, but to others they look at it like the difference between attempted murder and murder. either way the people that tried to do it are long time dead, and can't be made to answer for thier crimes now.

Isn't what happened to them basically the definition of genocide? We just didn't have the weapons of mass destruction then, so the attempt couldn't be very effective in this large country. Thankfully we have changed our minds about genocide and slavery. Hopefully we will continue to evolve toward good.

Yes of course. It was genocide against not just one group of indigenous nations but many groups.

I thought genocide was when people of the same race were killing each other, this looks more like murder to me, and it's wrong no matter what you call it.

Murder, or attempted murder, of an entire race, religious, or ethnic group is genocide, regardless of who commits the act. Fratricide is killing your brother.
