YES. I wonder if the world realizes how FREE we are in USA. The freedom to express (in non-violent way) our opinions about our government comes to mind. We argue so much here, about those questions.
Mags, that aspect of setting up polls just didn't occur to me. I bet you're right. I was thinking more along the lines of, "yum yum, strawberry shortcake or apple pie and vanilla ice cream?" without considering that in some parts of the world such desserts may not sound tempting at all, or may be completely, uh, foreign to them. (no pun intended but the cliche sure fits huh?)
I wish I could stay up later more, to see world votes. We all have an excellent chanch to communicate opinion, even on the silliest questions. I bet some of the world is shocked by what the US flags ask.
I wonder if the USA realizes how FREE many other parts of the world are. Others could ask questions about their governments... but the USA would have no idea what we were asking about!
I meant all free government. Most are "the west", But world wide there are readers that don't post questions. I most surely did NOT mean to leave out Canada, Aussies, and others. When there are visitors from FOR INSTANCE China, Iran, Russia, I don't know what they think when they read these comments. I don't know if they are comfortable is asking questions, either.
China is one of the countries completely blocked from Internet access.

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyThanks, guess haven't been around long enough to figure out how everything works. But like the site.
So have I. In fact as I write this there is a user online here that is from China.
Good point, proxies are everywhere (fortunately).
Interesting, I wonder how this site gets beyond the ban.
I've read that there are some high-end hotels that offer the service to westerners, but can't find the source.

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyNo. By "we" I mean every person in every country that contributes here. Each different nationality may be (but I don't know, so that's why I ask) inclined to put their own perspective on things, especially Americans.

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyI'd have to agree with most of that.
Then it's not self-serving is it? America-serving perhaps, eh? :-)
But I did like your analysis and I would be inclined to agree. In fact would there have been any point to this question if not to try to impress people with the notion "we are not alone"?
People in the states are so wrapped up in their own local environments that when I was a kid growing up in NYC and they aired westerns on TV, at that young age I was quite convinced that territories west of the Hudson River were largely unexplored and "explorers" to those areas would likely have to be mindful of the presence of wild Native Americans (although another term was more popular in those days).

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user Replywell crud! I didn't mean to start anything. I AM INNOCENT.

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyNo problem, BEC, few of us are innocent. I certainly wear no halo concerning this one. That's why I wrote the poll.
BTW, you meant nanobyte, right? LOL :D

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyWaugs, thank you. I didn't want to come right out and say "Americans" rather than "we," thinking some people in some other countries may sometimes have similar inclinations.

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyWell, meaningless dismissal, think only what a person in your mind set would accept. Too much stressed for me.

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyI gotta agree. What a crock! LOL
Well, didn't me no harm, must have a hair trigger or something.

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyTime to write up a new poll, eh?
Worse yet is the fact that some don't care what the rest of the world thinks!

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyYes! :)))
I agree! I don't care what they think!

[1 point] 4 years ago by deleted user ReplyDisagree ques. says "will be answered" maybe some time in the future, but now the polling map indicates concentration by far withing the U.S.A.
This isn't true in the early morning hours, when most Americans are asleep and Europe is awake.
Yep. My favourite time to watch is during those times when the votes stretch most evenly around the globe.
Good point, have to check it out.
I didn't think any clarification would be needed here; however, "will be answered" means when the poll runs.
From the looks of things maybe this should have been more than a community (25 vote) question, but since it was inspired only by our voting here I only designated it a "community" poll.

[1 point] 4 years ago byWow, almost twice as many comments as votes (48 and counting). I'm impressed. Isn't it interesting how, quite often, the comments are not reflected in the votes. This time, however, it was pretty even and most of us Americans took it chin up. Very nice.
