I have heard this question before, lets say this becomes mandatory, then what do you propose to do with those who do not pass the test.

And how do you think the people that do not pass the test will do if you for instance decide to cut of their welfare, what do you propose to do with their children (if any).

I voted undecided.

The question is what are THEY going to do to feed themselves. If you do not pass the test in a work place, chances are you are going to be fired and we do not think about those people. In some cases welfare money goes to by more drugs.

Exactly right! so send them to Canada!

So now you are thinking deporting your own countrymen? You are no better then a Nazi and if you wish to dispute that look up "MS St. Louis".

Well, what would you think they would do?

And what kind of sick place do you guys live where employers can fire you failing a drugs test? If you do not your job properly you should be fired, regardless if it is due to drugs or incompetence, not because of what you do in your life away from work.

Most workplaces that I know at least do testing before they hire anyone. Where I work they do a 'hair' test which can go back years. They will not hire anyone that test positive for illegal drugs.

My work also will do a drug test anytime there is an accident or you miss more that 3 days work. You 'may' not get fired for the first offense but you will at least be put on a program where you will be randomly tested for the next year and any following positive results will cost you your job.

I agree with ask001 what to do withe the children? I also do not think that it is right to assume that all people who have to be on welfare are on drugs. For those who feel that there should be mandatory testing answer this: What if it were suggested (like this welfare subject) that everybody who has a drivers license (whether they have a car or not) has to be tested for drugs every two years to stay eligible for keeping a drivers license? This would include people to take drug tests before the driving test or for getting into drivers ed. There are people who are on welfare specifically because of a drug and/or drinking problem those are the ones who should get tested in order to get what they need and if a person is into drugs that bad to need that kind of help they should not have the children in the first place.

You should be thinking of your kids before you start taking drugs... let us not put the horse before the cart! Kind of like 'What have you done for your family, lately, druggie!'

Guess what? I fyou go to work for ManPower, which places low-end people in factory/warehouse jobs, you get mandatory drug testing. If you go to work for AcounTemps, which places people who deal with money, you don't. It's a class-income thing, not a safety thing.

So no, quit treating poor people like they are criminals for being poor.

Im not sure how true that is, I work in an office with accountants and everyone takes a drug test to be hired, and are subject to random drug tests as well.

That is a company policy, not the temp company policy

Our temps are drug tested.

So, go to work for AccountTemps instead of ManPower and then you'll deal with money and not be drug tested. Maybe you'll no longer be a poor people also!
