I don't know how you would do that. The cost would be tremendous. Then you have the safety and astronomical logistic issues.

Well I certainly hope the switch would be overnight and not take 50 years - but I do not think that is what you mean to say. Actually I doubt if the advantages really outweigh the costs and safety issues.

Even after 500 years?

Why not take the libertarian option and let everyone choose for themselves which side they drive on?

Why should we change anyway, to be like the rest of the world? Fuck 'em

Agree, we drive on the Left.

In the city of Melbourne we have a few turns called Hook Turns, the tourists screw them up and nearly get wiped out.

Agree, 100%

Not so long ago (200 years or so) most countries drove (horse carts), walked, rode on the left side. The reason, any marching armies could have their right arms near their enemies and their swords away from them. As most people are right handed, being on the left is the only way to do this. So why would we want to through away our heritage?

We'll get cheaper cars

Why would we? the reason for our vast expense is bloody british tax mark-ups! nothing to do with the car manufacturers!

well said dearie

Lol, specially after reading the first response.

Nah, we'll just wait until America & Japan switch and any other country that drives on the right.

I think Japan drives on the left. Can anyone confirm or deny?

In the game midnight club 2 hey drove on the right.

Never mind, they drive on the left. Apparently a little goof.

Why the bloody hell would we!

I dont understand what the advantges of it are! It doesnt disadvantage us to drive on the correct side of the road!!!!

I agree. I don't inherently see a benefit to one over the other.

Does any one know of a benefit to standardizing driving on one side vs the other?

I dont care really.

Sweden changed from driving on the left to the right in 1967. (I know of no other country that has swapped sides), The principle motivation was to get in line with Norway, Denmark and Germany.
