Why? It exactly describes the crime. Someone killing to preserve their 'honor.'
No it does not 'describe the crime'. It is only the perpetrator's description.
In what way does that not describe the crime?
There is now requiremnt to accept the criminals definition of his act. Examples - some one who robs you: "This was not theft but a fair attempt to redistribute the world's goods". The paedofile: "I was seduced by that scheming seven-year-old".
A crime is a crime and we should not accept the perpetrators justifications.
Requirement by whom? We have no such requirement, except as part of a plea bargain--which tells you that it is a pretty shady thing in all, IMO.

Get rid of the emotional 'baggage'. If it is wrong to kill it is wrong; and no killing is any more or less wrong once you accept that.
