Nope, just sounds odd. Years of working The great Dickens Christmas Fair have attuned my ears to the British "Happy Christmas."
Actually we say "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" in a formal greeting, but the short "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Christmas" are interchangable, I doubt anyone here would recall which version was used 5 minutes later, and certainly not care.
The both mean near enough the same thing anyway!

I'd like to remind you that unless you are decended from native americans (red indians), then you are also decended from immigrants.
If you were smart enough to look up a person's profile and read their answers on the subject before mouthing off, you would know that I AM Native American.

Keep quiet bitch, your opinions do not need to be heard.
You are a disgrace to the flag next to your name, using language like that to a lady.
It would be nice if you would say sorry.

It would be nice if you commited suicide but that is never going to happen!
Why is it so important to you to be rude to people who have only been polte to you?
It is a very immature attitude, and impresses no one at all, in fact it just makes you look rather stupid.
I am guessing that you are both young, and fairly new here.
Why not take the time to read through a few threads, see how the community generally behaves, and start again with a more adult approach to you comments?
Being polite costs nothing, and who knows, you might even makes some friends on here :)

"Young" - Fail number 1: I am 29
"New" - Fail number 2: I have had this account for 1 year
And how is calling me a "Disgrace to my flag" any better?
I do not need your advice, nor do I want it, so please, keep it.
The difference my dear fellow, is that my statement was fact, yours was very nasty.
Since you do not even have the excuse of youth or newness to the site, I am forced to draw the conclusion that you are just a plain, ordinary, unpleasant person.
An Englishman does not go round calling ladies bitches, neither does he wish death on a fellow countryman who is only trying to give a little friendly advice, so I stand by my comment.
If you are genuinely interested in a subject, do a little research, find a few facts, and come back with a reasoned counter argument.
Resorting to abuse is a sure way to lose any discussion, and just makes you look stupid, uneducated, and someone to be ignored.
You may not want my advice, but your behaviour so far suggests to most certainly do need it!

I'm not english either you bastard, and if I had my way, I wouldn't fly this flag.
How about this? You leave me the fuck alone, and go about your evening doing something else, I don't know, read a book, weave a basket, anything, just fuck off and stop talking to me.
Stupid english cunts.
Not being English does not excuse you from having manners.
As previously mentioned, your constant resort to cheap abuse just makes you look like a typical "thicko larger lout football hooligan".
Go to your profile and change your location to change your flag. Perhaps the French would accept you :)

Whatever fool, I can't be bothered with you.
I, on the other hand, have considerably more patience.
have you ever done any fishing?
It is all about getting the baiting right, do that and you can have hours of fun :)

Wow, actually, I have done fishing, I didn't enjoy it.
Don't take me for a fucking idiot, little do you know, I can trace people through their IP address, I will find your home address, telephone number, Name, and credit card number you used to pay the bills.
I might release them to the public, so you have your identity stolen, or I could come to your house, and teach you some fucking manners.

[-2 points] 3 years ago by deleted user ReplyJesus is the reason for the season.
Oh no, now you shall invoke the wrath of the various and sundry atheists on this forum who will rail about you trying to push our religion down their collective throats.
Call me an atheist or infidel or whatever, you get the picture, but I happily celebrate Christmas. Christmas is part of my family tradition, even though I stem from a famlily of ardent disbelievers. Probably "our" Christmas is a tad different because it does not include a trip to church nor do we say prayers or see the story of the baby Jesus as anything else but a piece of folklore, we do enjoy the scent of a Christmas tree in the house, we enjoy a meal with family and friends and some days off work. Just to illustrate how Christians do not have the lone right to the party. By the way Christmas incorporates many pre-christian traditions as well.
Well said!
Great comment
And many post Christian traditions as well.

December 25 was the birthday/festival of the Roman god Mithras, popular with Roman soldiers.

He's a Canadian, what do you expect?
I wouldn't just go around saying it to random people who might not be Christian. But if someone knows me well enough to know that I am a Christian, then no, it's not offensive. I think it would be kind of annoying if I were Jewish, Muslim, etc. The assumption that Christianity is the default condition is probably pretty distasteful because it places value on one religion over another. Call me a wishy-washy, politically-correct liberal, whatever. But we're not all one way and I think it's time we started to recognize it. It's a new world folks, and we gotta start looking at it with some new eyes or we're just SUNK.

[-2 points] 3 years ago by deleted user ReplyAnd what are the adherents of that "well known" religion to you, Jonmarc?
Mike, seriously....
Are you related to KevinChicode or whatever that thumpers name was? You try to ram your beliefs and thoughts down others throats and if they don't buy it, they are infidels, anti-American, no-good people. You're too funny. Sad, but funny.
BTW, speaking of anti-American, didn't YOUR state fight against the USA in the Civil War? That would be an act of treason, according to your definition, correct?
In my opinion, religion is less about what other people call me and a lot more about the relationship that I have with my religion and the people around me. I am, in fact, familiar with the spelling of the word "infidel." Thank you for asking.

[1 point] 3 years ago by deleted user ReplyWho is "we"?, unlike you I only have one personality.
What are goolies? I'm asking because I'd like to use this term and I don't want to do it incorrectly.
testicles
not as offensive as "bollocks", probably on a par with "nuts"
I think "liberal school teacher" is a badge of honor. Do you think there's a Girl Scout patch for that? Maybe I should get a tatoo...
Lighten up, Jonmarc. Things are not that serious. No one is out to get you.
I know no one but the few Brits on here will get this, but at this time of year, it just had to be done :)
"Oh yes we are"!
"He's behind you!!!"

[1 point] 3 years ago by deleted user ReplyActually I am never offended by people of other backgrounds wishing me well on their own special days.
I have had a happy Dewali and Eid al fitir, feel free to wish me a happy Hanukah, Christmas, Solstice, New Year, Chinese New Year, and Buddha's Birthday.
When you wish a non-Christian a Happy (Or Merry) Christmas, you are not assuming they are Christian. You are merely saying "this day is happy to me. I hope it is happy for you too."
Besides, here at least, Christmas has moved beyond merely religious. Even if we were all athiest, a happy festival full of colored decorative lights would be exactly what we need in the darkest time of the year. Which is probably why it exists.

You know if it wasn't for Christmas being in December no one would be saying anything at this time of year except happy new year.there would be no happy holidays or any other of this PC B/S.
Umm... you have heard of חנוכה (chanukah), right?
Of course, but come on if it wasn't for Christmas there wouldn't be any of this craziness. At least not amongst the majority of us. If you were Jewish you would just say happy chanukah.and the majority of us would just go on like any other day.Retail stores wouldn't get into a frenzy there would be no TV specials, all of the sites and sounds that make this month a big deal would be gone.Including the saying "Happy holidays". Now you throw Christmas in the mix and this month becomes a lighting rod for political correctness. I'm just saying whatever you celebrate call it what it is.
Yeah because before christmas.. there was no midwinter celebrations im right?
We would still have the frenzy here in scandinavia when i think about it.
To bad I'm not talking about in Scandinavia, but here in the US.
Oh sorry, you didnt capitalise the US in "majority of us"
;-)
no i didn't because i actually meant us, maybe I should have said us in the U.S.

[0 points] 3 years ago by deleted user ReplyMerry Winterval!
(Winterval is apparently the "policality correct" way of saying "Merry Christmas" as to not offend the people)
It is a classic - meant not to ofend anyone, it actually ofends everyone :))
Now I know how to explain Irony.
I think that is what my wife does with my shirts.
Never be offended. Pagan love moves through the trees in a wood near you. Burn a log in your house. Bring a tree into that house. Celebrate light. Do as you wish.
Yule is such a wonderful time of hope and love.
