I don't understand marketing. It defies logic.

I would go to a shop like Radio Shack if they have the product I want, at a price I am willing to pay and give acceptable service. The only reason they might want to change the name if the brand was "damaged" and they are trying to make a new start.

I read that they are only going to use "the Shack" as a nickname of sorts in ads and promos, like "Coke" or "Mickey D's" get used. It's not a total name change.

I'll tell ya what's worse is Pizza Hut changing to just "The Hut". That's really sad.
