On the contrarary, I think they are paid too little over here.

for sure not in Russia...

In the USA, even College Professors with PHDs are paid about what a retail salesperson is paid, and expected to do so much and deal with many problems on a daily basis.

High School teachers are probably in the worst of it, with teens becoming rebellious and independent.

I was planning to go into education for my career, but when I learned I would make more flipping burgers at McDonald's, I decided it was not worth it.

There's also the fact that most teachers go home and continue to work at home without pay. Much of their personal time is taken up grading and checking homework, for which they are not compensated.

Some probably are,, they should be paid on performance not on some union contract.

How do you propose we could objectively measure performance?

Interesting, pay a teacher based solely on what another individual does. Would you like your pay to be based on someone else's performance on a test? And, let's make the person you are counting on for that raise be a teenage boy who thinks about sex every 7 seconds or so.

Anyone who is in a management position is often compensated on the performance of those who work under them.

I think some teachers are over paid and some are under paid. Unfortunately the teachers unions level the playing field and eliminate the ability to reward good performance and hinder the ability to eliminate under performers.
