I think the liklihood is on a par with "will there ever be peace". The drivers are not dissimilar - greed, selfcentredness and the need by some of power over others. The answer lies in a fundamental shift in human nature which in return requires Ghandi style leadership.

As long as there's difference, there's poverty. And as long as there's individualism, there's difference, even if it's most certainly not on a financial basis. So there will ever be poverty in the eye of some persons, for there will hopefully be individualism.
One man's poverty will always be in the eye of some beholder.
Unfortunately--there will always be some poverty.
Some day poverty will disappear from Earth. Sadly, this is the day when humanity becomes extinct.
