life is not about being happy... if there is a safety issue - they should definatly separate but otherwise they should do whatever they can to work on their marriage.
life is full of challenges and sometimes those are hard - including marriage... if you're not happy in your marriage then work on it till you are... don't give up because you haven't taken the time to keep your relationship alive....
By the way - I'm not in this situation - so don't feel compelled to give me advice! My question presumed the couple would have tried to make it work. I believe children are better off in happy single-parent homes than unhappy double-parent homes. This question flushes out people with outdated morals. I'm glad to see that most of the world agrees with me...

I total agree you, but don't keep working on something that just isn't going to be fixed. Sometimes, you just have to know when to throw in the towel.
