Perhaps we they should move it 200 characters and see how that goes. No one wants to read War & Peace in a question here, but I think 200 characters should be given a shot...
I have to agree. It would help crack down some of the more stupid comments about how not everyone/everything/everytime is the same. Of course they aren't, but we don't have room for a full legal disclamer.
Some people will complain about anything, and there does need to be a limit. If you set it too high, some questions will go on and on just to use it up. I, for one, am not going to read a friggin' essay just to answer a question here.
I'm a 40 year resident of South Florida, just outside Fort Lauderdale. I've enjoyed watching the area change due to immigration. A lot of it good, some of it bad. But, I realized a long time ago that there is good and bad in every nationality, religion....you get the drift. I have become interested in the Scottish Premier League and in the English Premier League. In the SPL, I root for Heart of Midlothian as my family is from Edinburgh. In the EPL, I cheer for Liverpool as their owners also own the Boston Red Sox. Fenway Park in Boston holds many fond memories of growing up and my young adult life. And, as always, you can e-mail me at odessaphiles@gmail.com....

Ditto.
But as questions become more complex wouldn't some people say that 200 characters was still too few?
