Not at all like California. There we have strict building codes that are adhered to. I was in the Northridge quake, which was a 6.7. Only 61 deaths resulted from this quake, as opposed to the 150,000 (and climbing) death toll just reported for the Por-au-Prince area alone. I heard the earth groan, watched transformers blow up, and watched the buildings sway, but NOT fall. While it was costly, the damage was not as devastating as the Haiti quake.
It would be good to help them establish some normality but I doubt the Haitians would like another country to take over. Poor and desperate does not mean without pride.
Do we really need any more problems??
I don't think the US should take over anywhere. They have enough on their plate.
No way!!! Why would the USA even want it? On a major faultline... 'sounds like more trouble than it'd be worth.
Kinda like another California, no way!! :)

I think you will still see "The Big One"---hope I am wrong but time will tell.
We may very well see the "Big One"...but why people assume it will be in a heavily populated area, I don't know.
*giggling* - not to beat a dead horse (poor horsie!), but how about the folks sitting on THIS guy?

That's the one that caused the Mississippi River to run backward for three days the last time it went off.
Ooooh....look at THIS!

Heh...
I accidentally clicked yes, but mean no.

Do that and they will feel the "wrath" of Venezuela and Cuba, which would only bring more problems to the Haiti citizens u_u
Did you know that Hugo Chavez announced that the earthquake was caused by a secret US weapon??
"Take over"? No way. But I think it is good when forces from outside help to control and stabilize the situation right now.
