I cannot see where legalizing an addictive drug benefits the society. Granted, it has proven to be therapeutic for some ailments, but with all the drugs on the market now days, there should be an alternative. As for the drug cartels, I don't think they bother much with marijuana. They are more into the hard core drugs. P.S. I thought that I would transfer my comments from the earlier question before dauguy did it for me.
The woman in NJ that drove on the wrong side of road this week, killing herself, her child, three nieces, and the people in the car she hit, was high on MJ and alcohol. No we should not legalize drugs.

Alcohol is legal.
Yet Codeine, Aspirin, all the NSAIDS, acid-reducers, and sugar (to name just a few addictive drugs) are all legal.
