Domestic aid. In particular, at least for breadwinners and people in need of medical care, the government should allow mileage to be a tax write-off. Then Americans could afford the cost of fuel no matter what it cost.
Not being selfish here, but a country should look after it's own population first. Not that America needs aid more than other people, but your homeland should be the most important priority, regardless of the country you are a citizen of.
It's tough to give what you don't have.
The US needs road repairs, bridge repairs, a big boost in the public transportation areas and the list of things the US needs before they start pumping more cash into the Swiss bank accounts of all these countries who's leaders claim they need help goes on and on.
The US needs so many improvements in it's infrastructure that those should come first then consider helping other countries. Of course major disasters are a different thing, altogether. Compassion for the sick and dying tells the "health" of any society.
