Don't think of it as support; think of it as holding their government to a higher standard and have rifles pointing towards the government as well as their enemies.

I would rather support a corrupt government than a violent one.

On the other hand, government is practically synonymous with corruption....no?

The Afghan government is very weak. If no government is supported, the Taliban will take over.

Thousand of lives to be lost regardless of which way you do it. Soldiers lives on the one hand, terrorist victims on the other. Not a good situation either way.
