Hello Jt. haha.

No. There is never a GOOD reason for censorship. But if adults are not sure they have taught younger people what they need to know to cope with the world, then I can see how they think they need it.

I think schools should block sites like youporn.com because such sites are not appropriate for school kids.

Perhaps. But if a child has been taught about sex and what is good and bad, they will take no harm from it.

But censorship will harm them--and us.

I disagree. Sex has a stronger emotional component than physical component. While I believe porn for adults is none of my business, porn with kids can have a lasting negative effect. It also normalizes extremely dangerous sexual practices.

Keep in mind too, dauguy that porn has a much greater effect on most men than it does on most women

Keep in mind that, like all primates, we are programmed to learn about sex visually.

How we REACT to that is a matter of teaching. Teaching that seeing sex is bad really screws people up. It is undoubtedly a component in the social structures that make America the world leader in sexual thrill killers.

I had to laugh. You sounded like you were arguing that sexual thrill killers are caused by lack of porn while kids are still young.

How we react IS a matter of teaching (and character)

sociopaths are created about 50% genetic predisposition. In Asia, the percentage of population that becomes sociopathic is less than 1%. Here it is 4%--and quite possible growing. Of the percentage of sociopaths, only a very very very few are sexual thrill killers.

And we are still programmed to learn about sex from watching. As are all primates.

Also, much of porn is not about seeing sex, it's about domination and degradation of women. There is also a lot of female on female sex that suggests that women should perform for men.

Our local library has a system that works real well. Adults have a different library card number than children or teens. Since you can only access computers with a library card they limit sites depending on your age. Adults are not censored, but can not got to destructive sites. Teens can go to any site adults can except hard core porn. (It's sort of like modified safe-search on Google.) Children can only go to children's sites. Porn is not allowed on any screens where others can see. You are warned that any password you use is not private. It's a set of rules that makes sense to most.

Our school rules are way too restrictive.
