In Canada, prostitution itself (exchanging sex for money) is not illegal, but most activities surrounding it (such as operating a brothel, being found in a brothel, procuring or soliciting in a public place) are illegal, making it difficult to engage in prostitution without breaking any law. -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Canada

Why was this question limited to the US and Canada? We have prostitutes over here too, you know.

haha im sorry this question applies to every country but im doing a paper specifically on canada and the u.s legalizing it but im also looking at countries that have already legalized prostitution.

Yes, prostitution should be legal.

Yes, it should be legalized. It would be a safe outlet for sexual release if prostitutes had to be licensed by the state and deemed disease free and if protection from disease was made a necessity of doing business.

It would also take stress off relationships if one person wanted sex and the other didn't, especially if pressure to have sex was becoming a problem, but other than that they get along great.

It might take a bit of open-mindedness to accept at first, particularly among the prudish, but I think that would come in time. In addition, being that sex could then be a legal business transaction a man or woman could "get a little on the side" and it could no longer be considered cheating because the transfer of funds would mean there were no emotional connections between the provider of services and the recipient of these services.

And since it would no longer be cheating the recipient of sex services would be no more obligated to tell what he/she was spending money on than they'd be obligated to tell if they stopped off for a hamburger and coke or a milkshake and fries. Guilt and sex would ever after become two totally unrelated subjects provided that people got sex services from prostitutes for a fee rather than from objects of lust for free or from people with whom a sex act would automatically mean some kind of emotional relationship as well.

Do you think the price would go up after its legal?

No. There would be a LOT more competition and a lot of women would be willing to work for less than $100 per hour. Men would likely be willing to work for even less than women would.

Well, lets giterdone!!!!
