I disagree with Krauthammer that Obama was "apologizing" in his inaugural address. Saying we want to move forward based on mutual interest and mutual respect is not apologizing. It is being pragmatic. The other options (Jonmarc's favorites) of "kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" or "turn their deserts into glass" are probably not going to be viable in the long run.

Technically if neither us of do apologize this battle can continue like the one between the Jews and the Muslims. Setting up democracy is a great thing there, when it takes hold they will become in control of their own society.
It really is not any different than what Bush has done. Do you think setting up democracy is not helping them somehow? Did you know that the military under Bush did the exact same thing because our allies became our enemies and our enemies became our allies. How do you think we did that, do you think we talked with what we considered terrorists at the time. Yes we did, and then we made them our allies.
You sound like you want to wipe every Muslim off the face of the planet. Ironic, that many in here sound that way. Considering you are flying under the banner of Jesus. Much of what we are taught is propaganda. Not saying that we are spreading it but that some want to fight because it is good for them.
There is complex reasons to these that you talk about that were raised in camps not allowed to integrate back into their country when forced from Israel. The country that they fled to put them into camps. Filled their heads on how their bad lives in these camps was because of the Jews and the Americans.
That process started I believe over 35 years ago. This was when the Christians in this country decided to push forth Bible prophecy to put the Jews back in Jerusalem. Okay feel free to add to my vague description of these things. Years, dates or whatever.
Let him talk, for awhile and let us just hope that he doesn't talk as long as Jimmy Carter did. If it is a combination of what Bush did and what Obama does that helps then who cares. It is not the differences that Unite Americans to do what they need to do but the parallel agreement that brings us where we go effectively. You are right about the extreme many of them do want to kill us. So, logically how many is that and by killing how many out of the main population do you think that effort will produce more? How many Muslims are there 2 Billion? and what percentage are terrorists? If there was 1% that were terrorist or would or could be in the future that would make it so we must find 20 million that may not even all be active yet. You really don't have a plan. Communication is the key. When Bush did it it was okay but when Obama does it it is not. I see how you are.
Thanks for the references. So, Republican & Democrat are still both capitalists. Now with a baby democracy that is starting there in Iraq and the 100,000 Iraqis that
Bush made legal citizens of this country what to you think we should do? Remember Christians also kill each other over these kinds of arguments even the Jews have and do still kill each other. In the Jews case it is in regards to the true origin and character of the Father. I know it is a problem but do you believe in freedom then? Do you know that there are pacifist type Muslims? Also if they looked closely they would realize that the Jews and Muslims are brothers!!! That is the truth. We've got our work cut out for us.
I read Krauthammer's interesting piece AFTER I had voted - I had already decided that, imo, Obama should on no account say anything that Islam might construe as an apology.
Man, you are an fing nut case. Sometimes adults need to try to talk things out. It's not a show of weakness for some of us, rather, it's a sign of a smarter person. I'm positive he's doing his best to let people know that we don't want to continue to hash it out like this. You're mainly twisting things around (as crackpots often do) to suit your own dislike for our president.

Very good, but not good enough. Keep trying. The funny thing is your numbers are still falling. Maybe I'm not the only one who thinks you're an asshole. Anyone that agrees? Please reply....
I totally agree. If we take away any claim to legitimacy for the extremists hatred towards the west, by apologizing for any wrongs we may have done, it will be much easier for those moderates to stand up and tell them to take their hate elsewhere.
Y'know, Wing, I sometimes wonder if we get a true picture of the news in the States. I hear, sometimes, of protests by the non-violent Muslims protesting against the violent ones. But, we never see it here. I wonder if it is more prevalent than we know. I would love to see a protest, with all religions involved, against violence in the name of religion. But, the odds of that happening are slim and none and slim left town.
My liberal media? What is that? I meet many brave soldiers at the hospital and they are not conservatives. What I do is listen to them and their stories and form my opinions from them, media sources, and other peer opinions.
You commented about cleaning up the mess over there, the US contributed to it. Life IS better for them compared to the shethole they've had for many years.
Sometime, in the future, our economy will be doing better, but not before the cesspool we must first go through. Does this make you happy? It is like losing a limb and saying you are doing much better now with the prosthetic one.
In Iran, vast crowds turned out on the streets and held candlelit vigils for the victims (of 9/11). Sixty-thousand spectators respected a minute's silence at Tehran's football stadium.
I have no idea, last month we get lots of coverage of missiles hitting open fields and one building, while the destruction of whole high rise buildings in Gaza got like 3 seconds, if you are not paying attention you would think it was an Israeli town that was destroyed.
I was in Holland when those planes hit and I remember that there were reports that in Tehran alone over a million people marching in support of America. Bush was never very popular, most thought of him as an harmless fool when he got elected. After 9/11, but the whole world was supporting Bush and the USA after 9/11, including myself. It was only when Bush wanted to invade Iraq the support for the USA went downhill. The subsequent removing of prisoners from Afghanistan and other parts of the world, jailing them in gitmo, torture, warrantless wiretapping is what got a lot of people very angry.

[0 points] 3 years ago by deleted user ReplyIn case anyone missed it, he did apologize on Arab TV. He is a real jerk and is leading us down the wrong path. Maybe he is a Muslim after all.
Yeah, no one should ever have apologize for the "mistakes" one makes, what a jerk!
