I was trying to quote Austin Powers and ended up being culturally insensitive.
There are lots of people I'd like to cuss out, but throwing a shoe seems a bit childish. Oh well, symbolic gesture and all. News reports are that Iraqis were all supportive and whatnot, but how are we not going to jail someone for assaulting a head of state. Seriously?
waugs is right, the shoe is a huge insult in Arab culture. And how many of the news reports mentioned that? It has a different meaning when taken in context, but Heaven forbid we should try and understand that.
They have about a zillion things in their culture which are huge insults. That's part of their problem. Now, if they only learned to shrug them off, Western style, instead of the Death to This, and Behead That, THAT would get them somewhere. So maybe we can count the shoe as a step in the right direction- its not as civilized as an editorial, but it certainly tops a grenade. Considering all the ugliness that has come out of Sadr City- the mass killings, the bombings, the medieval theocratic mindset, etc- give the guy some credit for rising above the lowest expectations.
I wonder how many letters of support he will get worldwide for his courage and conviction in expressing his disgust for Bush. That will be interesting - to see how the consensus feels. Here's the website of the station he works at if anyone wants it/; http://www.albaghdadia.com/contactus.php We all sent letters of support from our family.
The war on Iraq lead to the death of about one million of iraqi people!! five(5)million became refugees away from the insecure life in Iraq,Iraq is being broken to smaller countries with the help of the US government,in iraq now there's poverty, aggression, unemployment and daily violations for human rights.simply..USA destroyed Iraq...and president Bush showed up simply to say that the war was a fault & that he is sorry!!!what?..sorry??!yes.. Bush deserves what the iraqi reporter has given to him. Muntadhar al-Zaidi expressed all what we feel as arabs towards Bush the big lier..I hope to see the day in which Bush is arrested as a war criminal for what he did in Iraq

Personally, I would volunteer to insert that shoe forcefully up the thrower's anal canal and staple it shut.
Yeah, right old man.
Of course, I am sure you will send him a letter of appreciation, being that you are such an avid supporter of everything USA.
Letter of appreciation? As usual, you're wrong....

Let's see, on the subject of killing others over insults:
Didn't President Bush say something about the insult to his daddy as part of his reasons for going to war?
