If it's an emergency, the family has to contact the school administration anyway, to allow the kid to leave during school hours. No need for the mobile.
I thought if there was an emergency you where suppose to lock yourself in the class room and call 911. Can't do that with out mobile phones.
The teacher can have a mobile phone. ;o)
Yeah, that happens all the time. It's way worth interrupting and subverting the learning process for the likelihood.
Not.
If the sound is off, sure
The problem is that they text message test answers (among other things) to each other. :o(
then don't allow mobiled on essays, test, exams etc
I don't want them texting each other (or their friends) when they're supposed to be paying attention to the teacher. If I ran the world, there would be cell phone jammers installed in theaters, restaurants and schools. ;o)
Another question is should teachers be allowed to have cell phones turned on during classroom instruction time. As an administrator I don't think either students or instructors should have them turned on in the classroom.
They may be of some use for family emergencies or school emergencies, but only on vibrate.
It is a world of communication and collaboration. Throw out the grades and let kids collaborate on answers. The key is developing ways to find the correct answers using tools. It is not what you have in your memory anymore in the digital age.
I completely agree. Once you are out in the "real world" you're going to have to collaborate and be a team player anyway. Might as well learn how to do that early.
