Charley was (is?) a very smart man. He is mentally ill but very intelligent.

He is also a very evil man. Keep him locked up. Even he would agree that that is the best thing for him.

I like bringing a multiple sick offender to the point of death in the way they did it, bring back all nice and healthy, then keep doing it. Bring em back that last time and finally hang em, don't waste the money on an injection. Yea, I believe in corporal punishment.

Maybe I am. I think it's rather proactive though, considering how many people in this world do so much good, so much to help others, others that can't get help because needed funds are used on keeping "people" alive that bloodlust. Not saying it isn't unfortunate. Maybe sanity comes when you realize the golden rule, maybe. If not, let a higher power sort em out!

When a person is found unfit for society what is the reason behind wanting to keep them alive. To make the pay for their sins as fully as possible?

So law biding citizens should feel responsible for keeping them alive regardless of whether they murdered people and decided them unfit for life. As long the they are alive there is always the possibility they can escape from prison again, and, possibly, kill some of the very people that were helping to keep them alive so they could do it again. I suppose such reasoning is acceptable if the killers are total strangers and the victims are total strangers too, but wouldn't you whistle a different tune if the victims were friends or relatives, or even worse your immediate family and kids. I don't think I could be so open minded if it hit so close to home. If it happened in Peru or India then sure I could be open-minded, but not if it happened to my next door neighbor.

Maybe we should send sweet Charlie to Canada and let you guys take care of him. We still have to work on our healthcare.

I'll sign the petition. =]

Charlie should have been executed a long long time ago. If there ever were a case where the death penalty should have been carried out ... this case was one of them. He was so twisted and evil, the devil could have taken lessons from Manson and his family.

Since some "enlightened" idiots decided to commute his death sentence, there is no worse sentence that can be levied against him other than having him spend the last days of his life rotting in some dark and dismal cell. The treatment he continues to receive from the state, is more humane than he deserves.

His death sentence was communted as a result of the abolishment of the death penalty in California. It was a few years later that it was re-introduced.

Sure. They should release him when they take him out to bury him.

Where are the comments from the 43% who say he should be released? Seems most people who say "yes" are outside the USA, so they probably confusing him with Marilyn Manson or something.

Incidentally, Tom Snyder's interview with Charlie is on YouTube in case you missed it the first time. For anyone who thinks he should be let out, this will be a "reality check" for you. But even for those who agree he's in there til death, the Snyder interview is a compelling show.
