The plasma's still have a lot of issues. After 7 years of normal use they are at 50% brightness. They have gotten better but still suffer from image burn in. They also use more energy and put off a lot more heat.
LCD, as they don't tend to make the Plasma in the smaller sizes. (correct me if I am wrong on this, but in looking online I never saw one under 40")

I would always take an LCD over a plasma.
