Corporate power is only important when people misuse it. You cannot separate one from the other when discussing corporations. Your question doesn't make much sense in that context.
Somebody gave you the wrong facts. Exxon has paid the government to compensate the fishermen, the native hunters and others involved. If they didn't get paid, the government stole it.
This area has been returned to health. There are people working to bring it back to pristine.
My original point was that it's people that misuse power; any kind of power. It's not corporations.
That is a pretty accurate description of today's world.
