Other foreign goods like oil?

Everybody is hoping that the recession ends soon so that manufacturing capacity will increase so that the US exports to other countries to buy US goods. If you think ..."People buying foreign cars and other foreign goods are one of the major causes of the current U.S. economic crises."...

Give it a deep thought. The essence of globalization is allowing those countries who have cost effective means of producing specific items to prevail.Perhaps when it comes to cars a lot of people through experience have discovered that certain models are worthier in the long run than hoe grown ones. You may decide against it at economic cost to yourself as many have learned

Cars are an odd one though, they are often seen as a status symbol, when the oil price shot through the roof, those big trucks doing 7km/liter some people drive become very expensive to fill up. I have driven a lot of different brands of cars and American made cars are not as bad as some people make out they are.

If you think that it is likely the recession will end soon. look at how the same companies responsible for the market manipulation of mortgages are now manipulating oil.

People buying foreign cars is not the problem. The auto-makers not asking themselves "Why are people buying foreign cars?" is the problem.

The US has been finacing heavy consumption of imports by overseas borrowing for decades. Reality strikes.

How can it be avoided? Almost all American goods are made in foreign countries. Take WalMart. 600 factories, not ONE in the U.S.
